because it’s marketed more to men than to women

you’re a misogynist.

i like the implication that men find it easier to emotionally connect to a dog than a woman and that that’s for some reason not an extremely fucked up thing about our culture

Meet the fourth-grader who has been dubbed “The Michael Moore of the Grade-School Lunchroom” by the New York Times, Zachary Maxwell:

Like many things in the life of a fourth grader, Zachary’s movie started as a dispute with his parents. He told them that he wanted to start packing his own lunch, but they were skeptical. Lunch is free at his school, P.S. 130 Hernando De Soto in Little Italy, and his parents liked the look of the Department of Education’s online menus, which describe delicious meals, full of whole grains and fresh vegetables, some even designed by celebrity chefs.

In the film, Zachary, who is not above cheesy costumes and goofy special effects, makes a point that is under the radar of most conversations about the quality of school lunches: that despite the Education Department’s efforts to improve nutrition, there is a disconnect between the wholesome meals described on school menus and the soggy, deep-fried nuggets frequently dished up in the lunchrooms.

This kid is going places.

Thatcher’s death made me remember about the death of another polarizing figure, Reagan, back in 04. I was around 15 and my dad, as Reagan’s ceremony was playing on TV, told me how he was a good man that helped Nicaragua. I knew little of its history at the time aside from my father’s stories so I just went, “Oh… k?” Though even then I sorta smelled some faint bullshit.

So when I educated myself later on, and recalled what he said -

I’m sure there’ll be similar incidents in many households throughout Southern England today.

OK, guys, here’s the deal. KPCC has been doing a Public Radio March Madness bracket, and it’s down to the final round: Radiolab vs. This American Life.
We are total underdogs here. And we need YOU to make this a full-on, Mighty-Ducks-style, David-and-Goliath underdog TRIUMPH.  Team Underdog, are you ready?  VOTE!

It is with a heavy heart that we at Mother Jones Tumblr once again ask you to write-in “Car Talk.”

I may be the only person who dislikes Radiolab. Their editing style drives me nuts.

Guacamelee! is a Metroid-vania style action-platformer set in a magical Mexican inspired world. The game draws its inspiration from traditional Mexican culture and folklore, and features many interesting and unique characters. Guacamelee builds upon the classic open-world Metroid-vania style of games, by adding a strong melee combat component, a new dimension switching mechanic, and cooperative same-screen multiplayer for the entire story. The game also blurs the boundaries between combat and platforming by making many of the moves useful and necessary for both of these.
